Nevermind – Nirvana

Nevermind – Nirvana

Ranked highly on lists of the greatest albums of all time, Nevermind is the second album released by the American rock band Nirvana in 1991. The album was produced by Butch Vig and it was their first release on DGC Records.

Nevermind had such an overpowering impact on a generation- teens suddenly turned punk. The album was not meant to change the world, but it turned out to be the place where alternative rock crashed into the mainstream.

Butch Vig made sure that the brilliant songs of the album didn’t get lost in the same cheap production as on their first album, Bleach, so he spent more than a month recording and mixing the album with the group.

Primarily, Nevermind reached its success with the single “Smells Like Teen Spirit“, and then the singles “Come as You Are“, “Lithium” and “In Bloom” followed.

The key to the album’s success are the tremendous power of the band, the Cobain’s songwriting and the help of Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl to turn this into a music that is powerful and gripping.

Nevermind has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and it was certified Diamond because of the 10 million copies that were shipped.
