1943 – Born Jim Morrison

On 8th December, 1943 was born Jim Morrison, American singer and songwriter, best remembered as the lead vocalist of The Doors.

Because of his wild personality and performances, he is known as one of the most iconic, charismatic and pioneering frontmen in rock music history. Due to the dramatic tinges surrounding his life and death, later in the 20th century he was one of the most rebellious icons, representing generational gap and youth counterculture.

On the Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time he was ranked number 47, and number 22 on Classic Rock Magazine’s 50 Greatest Singers In Rock.

Morrison died at the age of 27 in Paris, but there was no autopsy performed, so the exact cause of his death is still disputed.
